Golf Courses
New Zealand is reputed as having more golf courses per head of population than any other country in the world. We have greatly enjoyed visiting many of them, assessing their merits and developing an understanding of the way the clubs and courses are managed which assists when including courses as part of our tour itineraries.
Whilst there are many stunning resort courses which we include in our itineraries, we also like to include a variety of club courses, some of which are not particularly well known, but real gems; others are well known regional courses which have staged many a national event. Where desired, we try to arrange mixing and mingling with local players. We have included here details of a sample of the courses we play in the Auckland region. Other courses are described in the tour itineraries in which they appear.
- Gulf Harbour Country Club
- Clarks Beach Golf Club
- Formosa Country Club
- Whitford Park Golf Club
- Muriwai Golf Club
- South Head Golf Club
- Warkworth Golf Club
- Omaha Beach Golf Club
It is interesting to note visitors’ comments after playing golf in New Zealand; comments which we hear frequently include:
“Where is everyone; it is hard to believe that there are so few people out playing on a course as beautiful as this.”
“You are so lucky to have so much open space and beautiful scenery where you can locate your golf courses.”
“It is great to be able to go and look for your ball without fear of what ‘nasties’ (snakes, crocodiles, spiders, etc) may be lurking!”
